Description

1. Perform the laboratory experiments related to the membrane separation processes for the recovery of the rare earth elements, separation of lithium, and other gaseous mixtures, etc.

2. Conduct the testing of large scale experimental membrane systems and optimize the process parameters.

3. Participate in the analysis and interpretation of the experiential data and write detailed report to clearly communicate the results.

4. Conduct all the experimental work by following ORNL safety protocols and guidelines.

5. Participate in the group meetings related to different projects.  

Qualifications

- A B.S. in chemical engineering or organic/inorganic chemistry or related field.

1. Hands on experience with chemistry/chemical engineering laboratory techniques is required.

2. Familiarity with membrane separation and solvent extraction techniques is desirable but not required.

3. Proficiency with software tools like Microsoft office, especially with Excel for data analysis is strongly desired.

4. Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously as needed.

The ORNL Postgraduate Research Associates Program is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).
