A fellowship opportunity is available in the Division of Food and Waterborne Environmental Diseases (DFWED) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The fellow will be trained in the epidemiologic techniques needed to conduct surveillance for cases of waterborne disease in the United States.  The fellow will learn epidemiologic techniques to include various aspects of case surveillance, including how to manage and analyze surveillance data.  The training will include how to analyze and interpret case surveillance data for waterborne pathogens to describe epidemiologic patterns and trends and prepare analytic results for publication on websites, fact sheets, and peer-reviewed manuscripts. The fellow will learn how to communicate with state and federal partners on surveillance activities to provide technical assistance and write clear guidance materials. Additional opportunities to develop specific expertise related to waterborne disease outbreak surveillance in untreated recreational water settings (e.g., rivers and lakes) and drinking water systems and to learn about waterborne disease-related issues specific to the Great Lakes region may be offered.
