Description

A postgraduate fellowship opportunity is currently available at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Center for Global Health (CGH).  The appointment will be served with the within the Division of Global HIV & TB (DGHT), Health Informatics, Data Management, and Statistics Branch (HIDSMB) in Atlanta, Georgia.

The candidate will support HIDMSB staff. This will allow the fellow to learn about HIV/AIDS data management, and tools, such as, SAS BASE, SQL, STATA Software, EpiInfo, and visual analysis tools used to support data management, analysis, and visualization of data.

The fellow will have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities:

  • Data management, analysis and visualization of monitoring and evaluation data.
  • Data management, analysis and visualization of HIV drug resistance surveillance data
  • Evaluation of tools to support public health programs and practitioners in their use of HIV/AIDS programmatic data.
  • Data analytic support for better decision-making and analyses.

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.

 

Qualifications
  • Master's in Public Health (or equivalent degree) earned within 5 years of the starting date.
  • Data management experience is preferred, but not necessary.
