Description

The Department of Energy's Office of Energy Efficiency & Renewable Energy (EERE) Robotics Internship Program is an opportunity for current students and recent graduates to intern with public agencies and private industries. It is a partnership between the public and private sectors to continue the development of the future robotics technical, engineering, and advanced manufacturing workforce.

In particular, the internship program is recruiting current students and recent high school and college graduates who have experience in robotics competitions, such as FIRST Robotics Competition, in high school or in college.

Internship details:

1. The 2016 summer internships will be 10 week appointments in various locations across the United States with a variety of national laboratories and private industries.

2. Undergraduate interns will receive a stipend of $600 per week and post-graduate and graduate students will receive a stipend of $750 per week.

3. Interns will be reimbursed for inbound-outbound travel expenses to their appointment site up to a combined maximum of $1,000.

4. Interns who are appointed outside their local area will receive a $150 per week housing allowamce.

Application deadline is March 4, 2016, 11:59 p.m. EST.

NOTE: If you are a high school student who will graduate in May or June 2016, please mark your degree status as "Undergraduate". Please note in comments that your are a graduating high school senior and will be attending college in Fall 2016.

 

Qualifications

Successful applicants will meet the following qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old by the start of the internship
  • Must have prior experience in a high school or college robotics competition program
  • Must be enrolled in an accredited U.S. university or community college pursuing a degree related to robotics, engineering or advanced manufacturing, or have completed a related degree from an accredited U.S. university or community college within the last 5 years
  • If a recent high school graduate, must provide evidence of college acceptance from an accredited U.S. university or community college
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must have health insurance for the duration of the internship

  • If I am a recent high school graduate, I will provide evidence of college acceptance from an accredited U.S. university or community college.
