A fellowship opportunity is currently available within the Division of Public Health Information Dissemination (DPHID) in the Center of Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA.

DPHID is supporting the development of the Guide to Community Preventive Services (Community Guide) by the independent, non-Federal Task Force on Community Preventive Services. Community Guide provides systematic reviews and recommendations on a variety of health topics important to communities, public health agencies, and health care systems.

In conjunction with the Community Guide development efforts, opportunities may include:

• Conducting systematic reviews of economic findings related to community-wide health promotion and disease prevention interventions.
• Identifying, screening, appraising, and analyzing the literature on the economic evidence for community-wide health promotion and disease prevention interventions.
• Communicating the results of these reviews and other related reviews in diverse formats to diverse audiences.

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with education level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

• A Master’s degree in science, technology, engineering, mathematics, economics, public health, or epidemiology received within the last five years.
  • Graduate students currently enrolled at an accredited U.S. college or university in one of the aforementioned fields are also encouraged to apply. Proof of enrollment will need to be provided each semester.
• Experience and training in systematic reviews of economic evidence in public health and/or program evaluation is desired.
