Meteorology and Atmospheric Sciences Post Master's Research Associate
The successful candidate will conduct operational weather forecasting and weather model development for WFO projects utilizing the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model. The candidate will perform climatological assessments for field work locations and will aid the Staff Meteorologist during field campaigns. Additionally, an ideal candidate will enhance the current fate and transport (F&T) model capabilities of the Nuclear Forensics Thrust Area, which include HPAC/SCIPUFF and HYSPLIT. Further, several projects within the Nuclear Security Advanced Technology Group require code development to improve productivity. Lastly, the successful candidate will aid members of the Nuclear Security Advanced Technology Group with laboratory space oversight and equipment inventory.
Must have:
- Master of Science in Meteorology, Atmospheric Sciences, or equivalent
- Experience with the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF) model
- Experience with operational weather forecasting
Highly desired:
- Experience with fate and transport models such as HYSPLIT and SCIPUFF
- Computer programming languages such as Python, R, MATLAB, etc.
- Field work experience
Must have the ability to obtain a Q clearance.
