Practice program evaluation capability in support of the Army Office of the Surgeon General's Behavioral Health Division. Under the direction of a mentor, the participant will partake in the evaluation of multi-site programs and services to include Embedded Behavioral Health (EBH) Leader Survey, U.S. Army Special Operations Command EBH, Child and Family Behavioral Health Services, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, BH services to TRADOC, and Drug and Alcohol use and misuse. Assist on evaluation techniques and metrics, the development and delivery of quality data collection tools and deliverables. Assist with feedback on project plans, information papers, and scientific reports. Analyze and report evaluation findings using software: NVivo for qualitative data analyses, Verint for survey development, and SAS to conduct descriptive analyses. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams of social, clinical, and public health scientists to design and implement retrospective and prospective analysis of multiple data sources to inform the evaluation of direct-care and community-based programs and services that address behavioral and social health concerns and inform DA and DOD level policies. The mentor will also instruct the participant on conducting literature reviews to inform the development of project plans and manuscripts.

Appointment Length

This is a twelve month research appointment with the option to be renewed for additional twelve month terms. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

Participant Benefits

Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by APHC. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

Nature of Appointment

The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

While participants will not enter into an employment relationship with DOD or any other agency, this opportunity will require a suitability investigation/background investigation. Any offer made is considered tentative pending favorable outcome of the investigation.

APHC is seeking a recent Master's of Public Health graduate. To qualify for ORISE, candidates must have completed their degree within the past five years.
