Description

The U.S. Army Research Institute of Environmental Medicine (USARIEM), Military Nutrition Division (MND) is offering a a postdoctoral fellowship at the Natick, Massachusetts facility.

What will I be doing?

As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in an effort to better understand the impact of nutrition on military personnel.

Ongoing studies within the MND are identifying relationships between the gut microbiome, physiology and metabolism, and health and performance outcomes in military personnel. These research studies seek to use nutritional approaches targeting the gut microbiome and other biological systems to improve physical, cognitive and occupational performance. If you are selected for this fellowship, you will expand this line of research by participating in studies and using computational approaches to identify effective targeted nutritional strategies for improving performance of military personnel under physical, environmental and cognitive stress.

Why should I apply?

Under the guidance of a mentor, you will gain hands-on experience to complement your education and support your academic and professional goals. Along the way, you will engage in activities and research in several areas. These include, but are not limited to,
  • Career development through conducting human research, analyzing data, and authoring manuscripts
Mentoring and training will be under the direction of Dr. J. Philip Karl, Nutrition Scientist, and Dr. Harris Lieberman, Nutritional Neuroscientist.

Where will I be located?

Natick, Massachusetts
