The U.S. Army Garrison - Italy is offering an internship at Vicenza, Italy or Camp Darby.

What will I be doing?

As an ORISE participant, you will join a community of scientists and researchers in an effort to measure and report command information effectiveness on web and social media platforms as a key component to public communication.

  • Assess metrics measured from data gathered in social media insights and website analytics
  • Create weekly reports
  • Consolidate feedback from community members using surveys and other anecdotal collection methods
  • Merge empirical evidence gathered from web/social media analytics
  • Study data associated with content
  • Gain experience in the creation of multimedia content for a variety of online and social media platforms
  • Learn technical aspects of photo and video production/editing and web/social media posting

Where will I be located? Vicenza, Italy or Camp Darby

What is the anticipated start date?

Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and internships or fellowships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.

What is the appointment length?

This appointment is a six-month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

What are the appointment provisions?

You will receive a stipend to be determined by USAG-Italy. Stipends are typically based on a participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other provisions may include the following:

About USAG-Italy

U.S. Army Garrison Italy, Public Affairs Office. Responsible for the communication to a variety of audiences through Command Information (websites, social media), Community Relations, (outreach to off-post civic and political leadership) and Media Relations (civilian news/press agencies. The PAO conducts analytical evaluation of communication tools to increase effectiveness of command messaging, to improve communication products to reach intended audiences.

About ORISE

This program, administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and DoD. Participants do not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DoD or any other office or agency. Instead, you will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.  Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. Qualifications

Applicants should hold or be currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree. Degree must have been received within five years of the appointment start date.

Preferred Skills:

  • Website and social media development, analytics, and insights
  • Familiarity with surveys to compile anecdotal information to compliment empirical evidence
  • Experience collecting, compiling, analyzing, and reporting program outcomes
