The U.S. Army Garrison - Italy is offering an undergraduate internship at the Caserma Ederle Education Center in Vicenza, Italy.

What will I be doing?

As an ORISE participant, you will collaborate side-by-side with education counselors to identify educational degrees and program options to support the Army Continuing Education Services.  

Why should I apply?

Under the guidance of a mentor, you will engage in a variety of activities in support of the ACES, including:

  • Performing various processes involved in the various education options available to students at the Education Center

  • Learning to perform academic support functions to guide students enrolled in the various degree programs

  • Exploring the different educational degrees and programs in order to provide support and advice to students, depending on their goals

  • Collaborating with education services representatives within the education community, education experts and groups to enhance the college's public image

  • Participating in the evaluation of courses and programs from civilian educational and training institutions and observe the training of program managers assigned to the Academic Affairs division

  • Observing the education counselors during quality assurance of student records prior to graduation and review of student progression throughout the programs

  • Obtaining knowledge of compliance requirements with college directives and being able to identify appropriate training

  • In cooperation with counselors, assist clients assess their values, interests, abilities and skills and relate these to opportunities for employment, education, training and life skills

Where will I be located?  Vicenza, Italy

What is the anticipated start date?

Exact start dates will be determined at the time of selection and in coordination with the selected candidate. Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis and internships will be filled as qualified candidates are identified.

What is the appointment length? 

This appointment is a twelve-month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

What are the benefits? 

You will receive a stipend to be determined by USAG-Italy. Stipends are typically based on a participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

About USAG-Italy

The Army Continuing Education Services (ACES) office administers, supervises, promotes, conducts, and evaluates programs designed to provide Solders with individualized career-related or self-development plans. ESO is responsible for Tuition Assistance Request (TAR) approval or denial. Credentialing Assistance is another way the Army continues to professionalize the enlisted force by providing up-to-date industry-recognized credentials in a member's Army job. It provides a way for members to prepare for civilian life by ensuring that they are ready for work in the civilian sector. There are many aspects to credentialing including certifications and licenses.

About ORISE

This program, administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and DoD. Participants do not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DoD or any other office or agency. Instead, you will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.  Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. Qualifications

The qualified candidate will be currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 2 years of study completed.

Highly competitive applicants will have education and/or experience in one or more of the following:

  • Oral and written communication skills
  • Establishing professional working relationships
  • Customer service skills
