Description

Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) is the largest U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) science and energy laboratory, conducting basic and applied research to deliver transformative solutions to compelling problems in energy and security. Staff within the Electrical & Electronics Systems Research Division are involved in a wide range of projects associated with the development of sensors, circuits, and systems. The division is seeking an Electrical Engineering Post-Master’s Research Associate to support the research and development activities associated with the design, simulation, development, prototyping, and testing of very low power electronics for signal signature analysis. Design and evaluation will involve implementations using both commercial integrated circuits and custom CMOS integrated circuits.

Qualifications

The candidate should have a master’s degree in electrical engineering and have reasonable knowledge of low power CMOS integrated circuits and general electronics laboratory test and measurement equipment.

Experience with integrated circuit layout tools (Cadence Virtuoso suite), associated circuit simulation tools (Cadence Spectre), and test system design is required. Knowledge regarding the design of very low power circuits and systems based on CMOS integrated circuits operating in the sub-threshold regime is highly valued. The ability to develop, organize, and carry out experiments and the ability to interpret and communicate test results are necessary skills.

The ORNL Post-Master’s Research Associates Program is administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE).
