ORNL Renewable Energy and Environmental Policy Post-Master’s Research Associate
The Post-Master’s Research Associate will join a team of environmental scientists, legal experts, social scientists, modelers, and engineers in examining the time frames, regulations, and federal authorization procedures associated with non-federal hydropower facility permitting, licensing, and development within the United States. Activities will include review of federal licensing documents, extraction of information for quantitative analysis, and synthesis of findings. Additionally, the Research Associate will assist in documenting the perspectives of environmental and industry stakeholders engaged in the U.S. hydropower licensing process, especially with respect to timeframes of licensing and associated costs and benefits.
Candidate should have a master’s degree in environmental policy, renewable energy policy, environmental law, environmental sciences, social sciences, or a related field. Evidence of coursework that sufficiently provides knowledge of policies and regulations related to renewable energy permitting and licensing or social science applications to renewable energies is preferred.
Preferred qualifications include demonstrated skills in reviewing regulatory and policy documents, conducting policy analysis, and database/creation/management. Programming skills in R, python, or other platforms are also preferred. Familiarity with ArcGIS is a plus.
