WRAIR Biomedical Research and Technology Applications Fellowship
Click on Apply at the bottom of the opportunity to start your application.
The Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (WRAIR) is DoD's premier research enterprise for infectious diseases, brain health, and performance optimization. Around the world and at WRAIR’s headquarters, research is carried out to develop infectious disease countermeasures and to benefit brain health through studies to enhance our understanding of sleep, traumatic brain injury prevention/treatment and psychological resilience. Because of WRAIR’s presence in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe, basic infectious disease surveillance to clinical trials are carried out to assess these preventives, diagnostics and treatments. All FDA-approved antimalarials have come through this process at WRAIR along with many applications developed to protect or improve brain health. WRAIR’s Office of Research and Technology Applications is offering an educational opportunity focused on discovery, design, development and delivery of globally impactful solutions for military relevant infectious diseases, brain health, and performance optimization through innovative research and product development. Progress toward these medical solutions requires that the breakthroughs and the knowledge garnered by government scientists must be shared with scientists in academia, private research groups and the pharmaceutical industry for broadest commercial application, production or manufacture.
Bridging early-stage research and the creation of a finalized product, represents a significant challenge in the scientific field. Under the guidance of a mentor and as the selected fellow, you will enhance your scientific background and gain experience in research and development (R & D) innovations. You will gain valuable educational and research experience in the evaluation, analysis and application of biomedical technologies and scientific innovation, you will engage in the R & D from discovery through product development using your scientific knowledge and you will gain extensive new understanding of biomedical sciences.
