Description

Naval Air Warfare Center is located in Orlando, FL.   It is the principal Navy center for research, development, testing, evaluation, acquisition and product support of training systems.  We also provide inter-service coordination and training systems support for the Army, Marine Corps and Air Force, and perform such other functions and tasks as directed by higher authority.

The participant in this research opportunity will have experience with executing human performance research in specific environments, including military settings, involving tactical decision making under stress and immersive virtual environments.  They will support large-scale research studies using quantitative and qualitative techniques, and conduct effectiveness evaluations of technology-based training support systems.  This learning opportunity will provide the researcher with a chance to extend their education and work experience into the emerging field of machine learning, and its application to the guidance of trainers in the development and execution of cognitive scenarios.  Researchers will have an opportunity to work in the live, virtual, constructive field, developing innovative guidelines for users to determine the fidelity necessary to conduct decision making across LVC.

Team Overmatch provides an unparalleled opportunity to engage in both field research and direct transition.  Researchers will be working on designing capabilities that support adaptation of basic scenarios through tailoring to provide a library for training packages.  Participants will also have the opportunity to develop research methodologies and collect data to support the evaluation of training systems.  Analysis results will be used not only for publication, but also to directly feed back into the design of the training system.
