Description

The Joint Science and Technology Institute for Students (JSTI-HS) is a two-week, fully-funded, residential STEM research program for current high school students in the United States and Department of Defense schools around the world. Students will participate in research projects mentored by Department of Defense research scientists and other subject matter experts. The purpose of the program is to inspire and encourage students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields, increase STEM literacy, and expose students to the importance of STEM through hands-on, relevant research.

Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. citizen
  • Must be age 15 or older by July 1, 2019
  • Must be entering the 10th, 11th, or 12th grade in the 2019-2020 academic year
  • Must have a submitted reference contact’s email address on the application to be considered. Requests for a reference are sent automatically from your application submission.
  • Must be willing to follow all program and safety instructions
  • Must be able to participate in all activities for the full-program period, July 27-August 9, 2019
  • Must be able to reside on-site throughout the full program (lodging and supervision provided)
  • Applications are accepted from students attending schools in the United States or a DODEA school outside the United States or students who are homeschooled
