Description

A research opportunity is available with HRSA's Maternal and Child Health Bureau –Division of Home Visiting and Early Childhood Systems (DHVECS).  This opportunity would be located in Rockville, MD.  HRSA is seeking candidates with a master’s or higher in behavioral or social science, health sciences, social work or public policy. The ORISE research fellow will participate iteratively to create and produce high-quality qualitative and quantitative research products that will inform program implementation and continuous quality improvement. Within one year, the fellow will have completed a suite of analyses and reports on at least two of the four identified focus areas (see above), and will prepare an outline for a journal article on at least one of the topic areas of focus. The fellow will have regular and ongoing opportunities to work collaboratively with team members in the Implementation Branch as well as across the Division, Bureau and HRSA. Additionally, DHVECS supports ongoing professional development through attending and presenting at professional meetings, encouragement to write and publish journal articles, and other training opportunities. DHVECS staff have broad professional networks that may be useful for future opportunities for the fellow.

The fellowship will focus on home visiting and early childhood system issues across the following four primary focus areas:

  • Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
  • Innovation
  • Social Determinants of Health, Health Disparities/Health Equity, and
  • Early Childhood Systems.

The selected fellow will collaborate with the Implementation Branch Team to:

  • Conduct literature reviews, program, and policy analyses to inform program implementation and improvement.
  • Propose and develop methodology to synthesize available awardee data to identify and track awardee trends, challenges, and bright spots, and propose approaches to disseminating that data to Division staff.

Participant Benefits

Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by HRSA. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location. Other benefits may include the following:

Nature of Appointment

The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, HRSA, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

While participants will not enter into an employment relationship with HRSA or any other agency, this opportunity will require a suitability investigation/background investigation. Any offer made is considered tentative pending favorable outcome of the investigation.

Qualifications

A master’s or higher degree in public health, behavioral or social science,health sciences, social work or public policy.

U.S. Citizenship is required.
