The Minority Educational Institution Student Partnership Program (MEISPP) provides 10-week summer internship opportunities
to highly qualified undergraduate and graduate students from Minority Serving Institutions.
Opportunities for many majors and interests including:
science, technology, engineering, mathematics, business, policy and law.
The MEISPP is offered through the Department of Energy Office of Economic Impact and Diversity (ED). The MEISPP is designed to provide talented undergraduate and graduate students with internships that introduce them to a variety of entry and mid-level research, technical and professional positions within the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and its national laboratories. Stipends:
Travel:
You will be reimbursed up to $1,000 for inbound/outbound transportation expenses from your current address to the assigned location. Travel arrangements and reimbursement will be based on the most direct and expeditious mode of transportation; ORISE is available to make travel arrangements and purchase plan or train tickets for participants if requested.
Housing:
If you relocate more than 50 miles one-way from your current location, you will receive a minimum of $240 per week to offset expenses associated with housing during the internship. This supplement will be added to your weekly stipend.
Virtual Participation:
If the response to COVID-19 requires virtual participation, a $50/week allowance will be added to the stipend.
Optional Benefits:
At their discretion, offices may offer supplements to offset the cost of health insurance and for educational and professional development support.
Applications will be evaluated by the sponsoring offices/hosting facilities to determine if there is a match between the your knowledge, skills, and interests, and projects available. Applications may be reviewed by multiple mentors at the same time. Sponsoring offices/hosting facilities are encouraged to contact applicants prior to selection.

Academic Records: A copy of an official or unofficial transcript or copies of the student academic records printed by the applicant or by academic advisors from internal institutional systems may be submitted. Transcript or academic records must clearly show the student name, name of the academic institution, enrollment during the academic term at the time of application, current/completed/enrolled courses, grades, most recent cumulative GPA, and degree in progress. Submitted documents must have all social security numbers, student identification numbers, and/or dates of birth removed (blanked out, blackened out, made illegible, etc.) prior to uploading into the application system.
Academic or Professional Recommendation: Recommendation should address the applicant’s academic record and potential for success in an appointment, such as demonstrated intellectual merit, communication and teamwork skills. Recommenders will be asked to submit a recommendation in Zintellect. Letters of recommendation submitted via email will not be accepted. Recommendations must be submitted by Thursday March 31, 2022 11:59 Eastern Standard Time.

Question: What is the deadline for submitting an application?
Answer: Not all opportunities have application deadlines. Some opportunities remain open until they are filled. If an opportunity has an application deadline, then it will be listed in the opportunity details or in the opportunity catalog.
