- Learning from military and civilian researchers, and clinicians
- Taking part in the facilitation of integrated, complementary and inter-disciplinary approaches to improving access to care for urgent medical needs within our beneficiaries
- Working with the investigators in the BAMC ED to capture data assessing challenges with access to care for acute issues
- Helping develop a novel system that will enable military beneficiaries to fill short notice appointments for their acute issue that otherwise would go unfilled
- Learning how to develop scientific methods to capture data
- Learning how to disseminate the results through scientific venues

What is the appointment length?
This appointment is a three month research appointment, with the possibility to be renewed for additional research periods. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.
About DHA
The Defense Health Agency (DHA) is a joint, integrated Combat Support Agency that enables the Army, Navy, and Air Force medical services to provide a medically ready force and ready medical force to Combatant Commands in both peacetime and wartime. The DHA supports the delivery of integrated, affordable, and high quality health services to Military Health System (MHS) beneficiaries and is responsible for driving greater integration of clinical and business processes across the MHS.
About ORISE
This program, administered by Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE), was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and DoD. Participants do not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DoD or any other office or agency. Instead, you will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. Health insurance can be obtained through ORISE. The qualified candidate should be a recent high school graduate or have a High School Diploma completed by 2022
