CDC Office and Location: A research opportunity is currently available with the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP) within the National Center for Emerging and Zoonotic Infectious Diseases (NCEZID) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
The Clinical and Environmental Microbiology Branch (CEMB) is the laboratory branch in the Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP). The mission of DHQP is to protect patients; protect healthcare personnel; and promote safety, quality, and value in both national and international healthcare delivery systems. The Healthcare Wastewater team in CEMB is seeking applications for a Master's level ORISE Fellow. The team performs laboratory research to develop methods for detection of antimicrobial resistant organisms from wastewater surveillance in healthcare settings.
Research Project: The fellow will join the Team to train as a Microbiologist to assist with ongoing research projects related to the detection of SARS-CoV-2 and antibiotic resistant organisms from wastewater.
The qualified candidate should have received a master's degree in one of the relevant fields (e.g. Microbiology, Environmental Health, Public Health, Laboratory Sciences, or a related field). Degree must have been received within the past five years.
