A research opportunity is currently available with the Assisted Reproductive Technology Surveillance and Research Team in the Division of Reproductive Health (DRH), within the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion (NCCDPHP) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
CDC provides leadership and support in public health practice and the application of science for maximal benefit and is the home of the National Assisted Reproductive Technology Surveillance System (NASS).
Specifically, the selected participant will train with management for this project on Monitoring Health Outcomes of Assisted Reproductive Technology (ART) among United States Veterans. The participant will be trained to secure receipt of indirectly identifiable data, database design, and reporting, conduct and use probabilistic data linkage to match potentially identifiable data from VA with data from community providers reported to NASS, training on how to produce documentation for the project and reporting. The participant will receive training on how the documentation of barriers, and recommendations are collected for IVF outcome data. The participant will receive training regarding ART surveillance activities including data collection, analysis, and data management. Additionally, the participant will receive training on how to use ART surveillance data for programmatic and quality assurance projects to improve maternal and infant health.
Anticipated Appointment Start Date: October 1, 2020
This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment can be up to one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.
The qualified candidate should have received a doctoral degree in one of the relevant fields, or be currently pursuing the degree and will reach completion by the appointment start date. Degree must have been received within five years of the appointment start date.
