A fellowship opportunity is currently available in the National Center on Birth Defects and Developmental Disabilities (NCBDDD), Division of Congenital and Developmental Disorder (DCDD) in the Developmental Disabilities Branch (DDB) at the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, GA

The DDB is providing fellowship opportunity aimed at furthering the health science, epidemiological knowledge, skills and abilities of qualified participants, Under the direction of the Principal Investigator and Project Coordinator, participant will train within the Epidemiology Team with the Study to Explore Early Development research study project for autism and other developmental disabilities functions related to monitor changes in prevalence and contributing risk factors, and better inform prevention policy and program.

For the Study to Explore Early Development, the activities will include: 

      • Assisting with the preparation/assembly of research study materials

      • Reviewing Sending/tracking study materials

      • Performing quality checks on all study forms received from study participants

      • Data entry of study materials

      • Other special projects/training as needed

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointments are for four months, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with education level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

• Currently have a Bachelor's degree in science or health related field received within the last five years, preferably specializing in behavioral science or health communication
• Experience working on a public health research program
