Description

A fellowship opportunity is available in the Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology, and Laboratory Services (CSELS), at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), in Atlanta, Georgia.

The fellow may have the opportunity to be involved in the following activities:

• Providing support with HTML and XML.
• Offering team support with ASP.
• Developing cross-platform and cross-browser applications.
• Utilizing PDF capabilities for the for web.
• Applying web knowledge to projects.
• Activities involving basic web layouts.
• Intermediate experience in designing for the web

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed up to five years upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

Qualifications

Applicants must have received a bachelor's degree in computer science or related area within five years of the desired starting date.

Knowledge development and coding of HTML, XML, eXtyles, InDesign, and creating a searchable web platforms to enhance access to scientific reporting, for the rapid sharing of critical scientific and programmatic information to match the pace of the public health epidemics is desireable.
