A fellowship opportunity is currently available at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Center for Surveillance, Epidemiology and Laboratory Services (CSELS), in Atlanta, Georgia.

The participant will be engaged in current informatics innovation projects that may include:

• Creating functional software prototypes, both mobile and web-based.
• Enhancing the use of technology, tools, and techniques to improve health through innovation.
• Testing the use of novel technology.
• Conducting informatics R&D to support public health.

This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC or the program administrator, and there are no fringe benefits paid.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related discipline conferred within the past five years.
• Software development knowledge and or background in Informatics or computer programming desired
• Experience in Linux (preferred) and/or Windows servers preferred
• Knowledge in one or more programming languages (Jacva, JavaScript, Python, PHP, C, R, MatLab, SAS, IDL, Unix/Shell) and in MEAN (MongoDB, ExpressJS, AngularJS, NodeJS), stack, full-stack Javascript framework for web apps desired
• Knowledge in databases such as PostGreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL, or SQLServer desired
