Additive Manufacturing and Nanofiber Research
All DoD Programs are managed by the ORAU Maryland Office
Project ID: ARL-6676549715
A fellowship is available with the U.S Army Research Laboratory (ARL), located in Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD. ARL is seeking applicants with a degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Physics, or Mechanical Engineering (Ph.D., MS, or equivalent).
The successful candidate will be working in the area of polymer processing for additive manufacturing operations such as 3D printing as well as nanofiber formation. Experience with polymer extrusion, electrospinning, thermal, chemical and mechanical characterization methods is highly desired. In particular, experience with techniques such as DSC, TGA, FTIR, tensile/compression testing with DIC, XRD, SEM, EDAX is desired. Experience with surface modification and characterization, small molecule and/or nanoparticle synthesis and characterization, and metal processing and characterization would also be advantageous.
