The ARC Appalachian STEM Academy at Oak Ridge is a one-week, fully funded, hands-on learning experience for Appalachia's middle school students. Hosted by Oak Ridge Associated Universities in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, the program is a gateway to science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) in the Appalachian region. Many participants come from economically distressed counties and gain increased exposure to applied science and STEM education through this experience. Middle school students conduct guided STEM research projects with master teachers. The program culminates in a final group research presentation where participants showcase their work.
I certify that I am a U.S. citizen, am willing to follow all program and safety instructions, am able to participate in all program activities for the full program period of July 16-July 22, 2022, currently attend a public, private, charter or homeschool (in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade), or reside, in a designated Appalachian county, and plan to enroll in a public, private, charter or homeschool, or reside, in a designated Appalachian county for the 2022-2023 school year.
