Under the direction of the mentor, the participant will support the laboratory data review process improvement project. In the course of this project, the participant will learn to perform quality data review of laboratory data generated by in-house and contractor laboratories using EPA, OSHA, ASTM and various other analytical methods performed by a Public Health laboratory. The ORISE participant will need a broad base of knowledge across instruments and methods in order to assist with the data review process and the project. 5+ years experience in an environmental laboratory would be the minimum acceptable to participate in the project. The ultimate goal of the project is to produce a checklist that can be used across analyses and contractors to ensure that the required information (comments, required QC, initial calibration, continuing calibration verifications, blanks, etc.) is included in the data packet.
Skills: Experience using Microsoft Office software applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe, and a LIMS system.
Appointment Length
This is a twelve month research appointment and can be extended for additional one year terms. Appointments may be extended depending on funding availability, project assignment, program rules, and availability of the participant.

Nature of Appointment
The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency. Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.
While participants will not enter into an employment relationship with DOD or any other agency, this opportunity will require a suitability investigation/background investigation. Any offer made is considered tentative pending favorable outcome of the investigation.
Applicants should have completed a bachelors degree in public health. To qualify for ORISE, candidates must have completed their degree within five years.
