About the NASA Postdoctoral Program
The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.
Description:
This opportunity is closed to applicants who are Senior Fellows (5-years or more past PhD).
We are seeking a post-doctoral fellow interested in employing NASA and perhaps non-NASA remote sensing to enhance their research related to the terrestrial water cycle with a focus on snow and/or hydrology. Interdisciplinary studies, concentrating on the cryosphere, are encouraged.
Potential research topics include remote sensing algorithm development, modeling studies, data fusion, sensor development, and/or snow satellite mission concept studies. Participation in the design and execution of field campaigns (such as SnowEx) and analysis of the field campaign data is also a potential topic.
The post-doctoral fellow will work closely with NASA and NASA-funded researchers. Research results will be presented at national or international scientific meetings and published as journal papers. Advanced computational skills are required, as is experience working with remote sensing data (e.g., lidar, SAR, passive microwave, VIS/IR/thermal imagery, etc).
