Description

About the NASA Postdoctoral Program

The NASA Postdoctoral Program (NPP) offers unique research opportunities to highly-talented scientists to engage in ongoing NASA research projects at a NASA Center, NASA Headquarters, or at a NASA-affiliated research institute. These one- to three-year fellowships are competitive and are designed to advance NASA’s missions in space science, Earth science, aeronautics, space operations, exploration systems, and astrobiology.

Description:

The Goddard Institute for Space Studies Climate Impacts Group is focused on the application of climate information (in situ and remotely-sensed observations as well as climate model output) to enhance decision support across a range of impact sectors and applications (in particular related to agriculture/food security, urban impacts, and ecosystem/wildlife protection). Group focus includes the assessment of current climate vulnerabilities to extreme events and emerging challenges from climate change. Of particular interest are methods by which climate model outputs may be used to generate useful information for decision-makers and impact sector models (e.g., through the Agricultural Model Intercomparison and Improvement Project, AgMIP), the integration of remotely-sensed information for the monitoring and forecast of extreme event impacts, and the use of high-performance computational resources and statistical methods to elevate climate impacts research.
