An opportunity is available at Extramural Research Program Office (ERPO), National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC), at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
The research fellow will assist with systematic program assessments in ERPO. These assessments help to determine the value and impact of funded research for improved public health programs and strategies for injury prevention and control. The research fellow will also train with ERPO health scientists in assessing program activities related to either development, peer review, or management of extramural research programs. The Fellow will receive training to assist health scientist(s) with research program evaluation activities which include:
• Identifying and accessing resource documents, assisting with evaluation plans, questions, and indicators, collecting and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, and interpreting data to assess the value and impact of research outcomes for improving public health programs for injury prevention and control.
• Collecting, analyzing, and interpreting quantitative and qualitative response data to facilitate extramural research program improvements.
• Developing and disseminating reports and presentations on program evaluation findings.
• Implementing program activities related to the development, peer review, and management of extramural research.
This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment is for one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.
