Description

A research opportunity is available with the U.S. Army Garrison - Aberdeen Proving Ground, Directorate of Public Works (APGDPW).

The research participant will assist senior level scientists and engineers to create and to sustain the mission landscape through a proactive program of diverse activities that simultaneously promote environmental stewardship for the Chesapeake Bay and its natural resources while simultaneously supporting mission related activities. The candidate will be well versed in technical and scientific principles associated with natural resource management.

Appointment Length

This appointment is for one year and may be renewed for up to four additional years based upon recommendation of the host institution and availability of funds.

Participant Benefits

Participants will receive a stipend to be determined by APGDPW. Stipends are typically based on the participant’s academic standing, discipline, experience, and research facility location.  Other benefits may include the following:

  • Health Insurance Supplement. Participants are eligible to purchase health insurance through ORISE.

  • Relocation Allowance

  • Training and Travel Allowance

Nature of Appointment

The participant will not enter into an employee/employer relationship with ORISE, ORAU, DOD, or any other office or agency.  Instead, the participant will be affiliated with ORISE for the administration of the appointment through the ORISE appointment letter and Terms of Appointment.

Qualifications

Candidate must have completed a Bachelors and/or Masters degree in biological sciences, forestry, environmental science, or environmental engineering within the past five years. 

U.S. citizenship is required
