Description

A postgraduate research project training opportunity is currently available at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) Office of Water (OW) in Washington, D.C.

The participant will continue his/her education and enhance their professional development by learning about resources developed to enhance the nation’s ability to provide adequate analytical support in response to water contamination events.   Specifically, the participant will gain experience developing technical documents for the water sector that will be focused on the remediation phase following a contamination incident.  The documents will support the Water Security Division’s Decontamination Strategy; a multi-year effort that helps utilities prepare, detect, respond and recover from a contamination incident.  In addition, the participant will interface with other federal agencies, such as Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Water Sector regarding various decontamination topics.

Under the guidance of a mentor, the participant will gain experience in project design, strategic planning, project management, technical guidance construction; and in the development of tools and training needed to promote the water sector’s preparedness and resiliency.
