A research opportunity is currently available with the Program Performance and Evaluation Office's (PEEO) Monitoring and Evaluation Unit within the Office of the Associate Director for Policy and Strategy (OADPS) within the Office of the Director (OD) at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta, Georgia.
PPEO strengthens CDC programs’ impact through continuous program improvement activities including monitoring, performance, evaluation, and strategy. PPEO helps CDC programs and external partners achieve the greatest possible health impact. PPEO serves Centers, Institutes, and Offices (CIOs) across the agency and works with programs in a variety of ways including consultations, facilitations, training and skill building, capacity building, publishing resources and tools, sharing best practices, offering technical assistance, and connecting them with additional expertise and support in other CIOs and in the Office of the Director.
The Monitoring and Evaluation Unit works agency-wide to improve program performance, program improvement, and evaluation by delivering tools, technical assistance, and resources; managing the Data-Driven Regular Review (D2R2) process; providing training and professional development; supporting agency-wide evaluation activities; coordinating performance reporting; and, supporting programs in using data to achieve their desired outcomes.
This opportunity will be focused on the Monitoring and Evaluation Unit’s work regarding program evaluation, performance improvement, and program performance and will provide an opportunity to participate on a variety of initiatives while building skills through both formal and informal training and mentoring. This opportunity involves learning experiences for the participant relevant to evaluation, strategic thinking, and continuous program improvement. Under the guidance of a mentor, the participant will receive training in the following:
Anticipated Appointment Start Date: Spring 2021
This program, administered by ORAU through its contract with the U.S. Department of Energy to manage the Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education, was established through an interagency agreement between DOE and CDC. The initial appointment can be up to one year, but may be renewed upon recommendation of CDC contingent on the availability of funds. The participant will receive a monthly stipend commensurate with educational level and experience. Proof of health insurance is required for participation in this program. The appointment is full-time at CDC in the Atlanta, Georgia, area. Participants do not become employees of CDC, DOE or the program administrator, and there are no employment-related benefits.
The qualified candidate should have received a bachelor's or master's degree in one of the relevant fields, or be currently pursuing one of the degrees with completion by the end of May 2021. Degree must have been received within the past five years.
